On Being an Editor

When I was in middle school, I belonged to my class wall magazine team. Once a month on an afternoon, six or seven of us got together in our school selecting various articles, from mass media or written by my classmates, that were submitted during the month. We then tried to put them together on a large piece of paper. We decorated it with colorful paper linings, pictures, added some artictic touches here and there. After all was done, we displayed it up on the frame on the wall outside our classroom. We were always excited about how the other students would think about it. Sometimes our wall magazine was quite a talk, but sometimes it was not that outstanding. Oh well .... we tried our best.

Last week I put together my students articles into a newsletter. I used a newsletter template I found online. It was Microsoft Office Publisher. At first it was frustrating as the paragraphs and lines kept moving and disappearing. But, after I got the hang out of it, I found it much easier and found myself enjoying the process.

After about 8 hours of work, here is my debut in newsletter editing. http://www.embassyofindonesia.org/education/docpdf/KoranElektronik_ACI_Des2011.pdf
