Once Upon A December 31st

As told to Pilot, the dog, in Indonesian.

Once upon a time there was a white boy and a brown girl. The boy had been travelling around the world. The girl whose hair was black, long, and beautiful (the boy's blond hair was long and pretty, too) had never been away from her village.

They came from places a half globe away, 12-hour apart. Apparently it was destined that they met each other in a small town called Athens, Ohio. They went to the same school and took the same classes. For some magical reasons, the boy fell in love with the girl. And the girl felt the same. Both were so stupid that after eight months of dating they decided to get married on the cold afternoon of December 31st.

Thirteen years later they were still together. They found out that they were not that stupid after all. In all those years they learned about themselves and each other, and also about the world. On the not-so-sacred night of their anniversary after having sushi for dinner, they promised to help each other to become a better person in the many many years to come.
