As a kid, I kept a diary full with my mundane day-to-day activities. Thanks goodness, those years have passed. On this blog I'd like to jot down my opinions, observations, memories, etc. which definitely are much more interesting than my childhood diary's entries.

Spring Break 2011
Spring break this semester is from March 21 - March 26, 2011. On Friday, March 18, 2011 afternoon Paul and I drive to New Bern, NC. The trip takes us approximately 6.5 hours (thanks to DC rush hours traffic - it takes us almost 2 hours on our first 20 miles). Anyway, I'd like to keep in track what I do during the break. Here they are: Saturday, March 19, 2011 - take a walk downtown New Bern, NC. Jo Anne buys me a couple of plastic sleeves to display my pressed pennies. - try to find stuff for a craft project at Michael's. - do some beading --> make a bracelet and a necklace (the bracelet breaks the following day. see how good I am at handcrafting :)) - in the evening I start reading Walden and find out it is not an easy read. Keep trying, Nona! Sunday, March 20, 2011 - go to church. Today is the second Sunday of Lent. Jo Anne goes with me. - go shopping at the mall, TJ Maxx mostly, after a quick lunch. - have bbq dinner with Jo Anne, Frank, Emily, Alfred, and all the kids. Paul joins up after napping. There is a lot of food, probably too much. I am afraid of gaining a few pounds I have recently lost. - take a walk to the duck pond. Pilot makes it strenuos as she keeps pulling me around. - have a visit in Emily's home and play with the twins. Eli is busy playing a video game. Monday, March 21, 2011 I don't do much today. I have been trying to read Walden. I decide to look up some new words in the dictionary, one thing that I don't recommend my students do. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Jo Anne, Frank, Paul, Pilot, and I go to Fort Macon beach this afternoon. We walk along the beach. The water is too cold to swim in. Pilot likes to go to the water, but when a wave comes, she runs toward the land. She is so cute. This is her first beach experience. I collect some shells that have turned into rocks. We get home just about dinner time. I have a lot of fun. In the evening, after helping Jozy & Jo Anne babysitting the twins, I finish developing a reading material for Wisconsin University reading project. The rest of the spring break goes fast and uneventful. Paul and I (and Pilot, of course) leave New Bern on Thursday evening after dinner. I go back to school on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. It is a nice relaxing break.
